Jess & Trapper

How did you and your partner meet?

We met whilst one of us was on a date with the others flatmate! We are all still best mates today.

How did you or partner propose?

Trapper proposed to Jess in New Zealand on Steamer Wharf in stunning Queenstown. A proposal that went terribly wrong but ended in a ‘Yes’...and many laughs since.

Why did you choose to have your wedding at Terrara House?

After two rescheduled Overseas weddings we were looking for a long weekend ‘destination type’ wedding in our local state of NSW…Terrara House offered just that! Accommodating 28 friends over three days, hosting three bespoke events on site in different locations as well as a Marque wedding for 110 guests. It was perfect.

Did you have a theme for your wedding?

Trapper was adamant he wanted a Met Gala theme which allowed everyone to turn up wearing their absolute best without worrying about upstaging the bridal party. Guests arrived with blue glitter chests, huge bright pink dresses and even top hats!

What was your menu on the night?

A three course sit down bespoke menu was curated by Orchard Catering as well as a late-night ham hock sandwich bar which went down a treat. Absolutely delicious!

What was your favourite part of your ceremony?

Walking down the heart garden aisle with our puppy dog Daphne was magical. The gorgeous gardens on a sunshine filled day was the perfect way to start the occasion.

What did you love about your reception?

We wanted to make sure that the guest’s energy was high after we went for bridal photos. Our highlight was the 5-minute dance party with all guests on the dance floor on our bridal entry. This lifted the mood immediately before everyone sat down to eat and was the talk of the night.

How many people attended your wedding?

30 guests attended the dinner the night before the wedding in Chester’s, 100 guests at the wedding marquee reception and 50 guests at the Aperol recovery paella pool party.

What was your favourite location in Terrara House & The Estate and why?

Literally everything about Terrara House was incredible - from the gardens, to the historic building, the pool area and the house furnishings.. but Jess loved the bridal salon where her bridesmaids could get ready before the ceremony. Luxe!

Did you plan a post wedding ‘honeymoon’ celebration and if so, what experience did you plan?

No, we instead opted for a 6-week Overseas honeymoon getaway. But we will be back to Terrara House for our 10 year anniversary for another celebration. Let’s do it all again!

What is your advice for any future couples planning their wedding?

  1. Indulge in a long weekend celebration as the wedding alone goes so quickly.

  2. Choose ceremony music that is different to what guests expect to hear – something that represents you as the couple and get’s people off their seats

  3. Partner with the best event and organisers who truly care about you and your day. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the impeccable service they all received from Terra House & White Top Venues.
